I'm planning on attending school in January, and was looking for a job to earn extra money. Does anyone know of any working from home opportunities that have no start up cost. Call centers preferably. Thanks

I heard of an organization called BForce but don't know anything about it except that they outsource their call center stuff to home users and their apps are web-based. hth

Hi. I am also looking for a work at home job, because I have an almost 2 year old daughter and can't afford day care and can't seem to land a job outside the home, even though I have applied to several.
I don't want anything that is MLM or network marketing or anything like that. Call center work would be great.
I will look into B Force and see what they have.

Thanks,

Misty

No and I should have checked first; heard about it several years ago. My apologies if it turns out a red herring

There is a place called National Telecommuting Institute (NTI) that looks pretty good if you can get in. They specialize in providing at home work (in quiet environments) for the "handycapped". They have a few requirements (this is why I can't work for them).

1. You must have a lan line.
2. Your Internet speed must be 3mb or greater.
3. You must have a completely quiet place to work in with out interuptions.
4. If you are completely dependent on a screenreader the waiting list is longer do to the lack of accessibility in some of their programs.

However, if you wish to check them out their Web address is:

http://www.nticentral.org

I've applied and am on the waiting list. :) HTH.

If you use a screenreader you'll likely never get in to NTI, I applied with them years ago, and even offered to assist with the scripting of their applications at no cost to them, and they did not take me up on this offer. As a matter of fact, I've never heard from them again. I've had some success with liveops, and arise, though the ladder there is some start up to get set up as a virtual provider.

Be careful of NTI. They actually screwed with the New Jersey Comission of the Blind. They're a scam and only interested in making money for themselves, not in helping the handicapped. Even if you did land a job with them, the odds are that you'd lose it very quicly.

Hmm, they seemed legit when I talked with them, but that just goes to show...Even my case manager thought they were legit. I'll check into the ones mentioned here. :)

What's liveops?? How can I get a job with them??

I didn't know there was so much phone work in the U.S. still. I thought most of that had been outsourced. For the poster who wants an at-home job. My state has a child assistance plan, that will pay for childcare while one is looking for work, or going to school. I know each state's different.

Hmm, just from one search the Web address is:

http://www.liveops.com

And it looks like you are a call operator; IE take calls at home for them/companies that hire their services. :)

I wonder if people who work for these sights have regular income. I mean, it sounds kind of hit or miss, but I'm not that familiar with the phone operator business.

My wife and I both work from home, though I work from home a bit different but she works with arise, and liveops, she is sighted but averages 35 to 40k yearly.

Yeah, that's a good regular income all right!!

Yeah, not one I'd mind seeing... *grins* To say the least my husband and I are looking into these...

BigDogDaddy, how do you work differently from home than your wife? I'm interested in working from home as well. Just think it'd be cool to do it.

I'd also be interested in working from home, but I don't want to do anything involving mlm, network marketing our cold calling. I've done all of the above and don't like it. To be honest, I'd really like to save phone work as a last resort. . I'm interested in learning if any other kind of work is available.

I, too, would be interested in working from home. I really don't care what I'd have to do. I just want something to do so that I'm not bored all day, and at the same time, will bring in some sort of income.
